ABOUT US

Kristen M. Cox
President & CEO
16x9 Productions

Kristen Cox, recognized as an award-winning producer who specializes exclusively in high definition television (HDTV) is the epitome of brilliance, technical know-how, vision and Southern charm at it’s finest. As her clients will attest, “There’s just a warm comfortable quality about Kristen from day one that puts your mind at ease, knowing that you will get exactly what you need to get the job done on time and with a smile on your face.” Skills and charm like that can’t be taught. You are just born with them.

As President and CEO of 16x9 Productions, started in 1999, Kristen has produced myriad HDTV projects including: "Texas Wild" a documentary which has been broadcast nationwide more than any other documentary in history; “Bridge Dwellers: The Bats Of Austin,” awarded Platinum Best In Show for children’s programming by the Aurora Awards; and "Fiesta In The Sky,” a documentary simulcast in HDTV and NTSC nationally by PBS. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. As a member of the Consumer Electronics Association’s Academy of Digital Pioneers and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Kristen’s experience with a wide variety of productions on such topics as the Russian space program, women in sports and a multitude of promotional spots for technology companies have highlighted time and time again that this is one girl who’s got the skills and vision necessary to achieve engaging, cutting-edge, cost-effective programs. Kristen is currently co-producing a documentary that focuses on the inner workings of the top-secret Soviet Space Program from 1960-1974.

Prior to founding one of the leading HD production companies in the world, Kristen worked for HD VISION, where she became one of a select few HDTV producers in the United States. She produced the first live HDTV transmission of a sporting event: the Baltimore Orioles vs. Cleveland Indians baseball game for Harris Corporation, seen by over 350 guests at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

But her love for production and television all started many years ago at KWTX, the CBS affiliate, in Waco, TX. Here, Kristen honed her television and video skills while assisting in the production of live evening newscasts.

With a background like this, it’s no surprise that Kristen and her company have garnered awards from Telly, CEA, Aurora, Aegis, Videographer, Summit, Cinema Chicago and the Communicator, as well as received nominations for outstanding work by the International Electronic Cinema Festival (IECF). Cox was also recognized by AV Video Multimedia Producer Magazine as one of the Top 100 Producers of 2000.

Kristen also continues to contribute her talents to several prestigious panel discussions, speaking on HDTV production. In the previous years she has spoken to the attendees at the Jackson Hole Wildlife Festival in 1999; the 2000 International Wildlife Film Festival and NATPE 2001, where she joined a Dolby Sound Lab panel discussion about proper 5.1 surround sound capture techniques for production. Most recently, she spoke on the HDTV Super Panel at the March 2004 HD Expo and on the Challenges in HD Content Creation Panel at the August 2004 HDTV Forum in Los Angeles.
